Is it a video game, or is it virtual reality? I JUST DON’T KNOW! Ohheckyeah! is transforming Champa Street between 14th and the 16th St Mall into an immersive street arcade this June and July. There will be video games, art installations, 3D projection mapping, and all sorts of cool interactive media taking over the entire 2 blocks. If you haven’t watched the official video trailer for it, you definitely should. As an adorable 12 year old expresses, “You’ll feel like you’re in Tron.” There are a whole lot of people working on this project in different regards. Rather than being one large installation, there will be a number of different teams working on multiple games and installs. I have the great fortune of being able to say that I am working on one of these teams with Signal to Noise Media Labs, and the UCD Mobile Devices Ensemble. The Colorado Symphony Orchestra performed a number of short motives that have a video-game-like quality to them. They passed these off to the Mobile Devices Ensemble to remix and play around with. As part of Signal to Noise Media Labs, it is our job to create the audio engine for the video game to incorporate all of these sounds and music into the video game. It’s still a ways off, but if you’re interested in being a part of it, now is the time to find a team to get involved with. More information can be found here. Happy Saturday!
